This river trip, in rainforest south west of Hobart, is one of the best ways to experience the Tasmanian bush. The Picton River is an ideal introduction to rafting, with gentle to moderate rapids, depending on the water level. The river flows through lush rainforest, studded with Huon Pines, Blackwoods, Myrtles and interspersed with giant eucalyptus trees. In spring the wattles and Blackwoods are covered with yellow blossom. Later, the red Waratahs blossom briefly - and during the summer the Leatherwood trees are a mass of scented cream flowers.

Itinerary

We pickup around Hobart (or from locations en route) from 7.45am, and transport you to the river and back by approximately 6.00pm.

Note: If the water levels are too low the trip will transfer to the Derwent River. Trips can be run on any date to suit groups - Prior bookings required.

What to Bring

Swimwear or shorts to wear under a wetsuit, waterproof sunscreen, sunhat and towel. (We supply wetsuits and booties, lifejackets and helmets. If it's a cool day we provide polarfleece tops and spray jackets).
